Topic:  Summer Series Book Club: The Body Keeps The Score -Session 7.  Presented by: Jen LaCarriere, J.D., LMSW.  During this presentation participants will:  1. Connect Physiology and Practice: Understanding how trauma alters the emotional and ration brain, and why physical stress and bodily responses are survival adaptations.  2. Expand Intervention Toolkits: Explore "top-down" (talk therapy) vs. "bottom-up (body/somatic, movement, and rhythm) treatments.  3. Enhance Empathy and Reduce Stigma: Shift the perspective from "What is wrong with this client?" to "What happened to this client?" to foster unconditional positive regard.  4. Practice Self Care and Boundary Setting: Use Group discussions to recognize the impact of secondary trauma as social workers and practice self-regulation.  1.00 Clinical CEU hour.  Pre-registration is required to be awarded CEU credit.

Topic:  Opening Your Heart and Your Home: Becoming a Foster Parent—Providing Hope, Healing, and Stability Through Trauma-Informed Care.  Presented by: Kimberly Henderson, MSW.  This presentation will:  1. Describe the role and purpose of Therapeutic Foster Care services in supporting children and youth in foster care.  2.Identify the impact of trauma, abuse, neglect, and adverse childhood experiences on the development and behavior of children in foster care.  3. Explain key principles of trauma-informed care and how they promote healing, stability, and positive outcomes for children and families.  4. Recognize the responsibilities, requirements, and support services available to individuals and families interested in becoming foster parents.  5. Discuss ways social workers, community partners, and foster families can collaborate to improve permanency and well-being outcomes for children in care.  1.00 General CEU hour.  Pre-registration is required to be awarded CEU credit.
