June 28, 2024; 9:00am - 10:30am; VIRTUAL-Zoom. Improving Care for LGBTQ+ Elders. LGBTQ+ older adults face unique health and social disparities. In comparison with their straight and cisgender peers, they are more likely to live alone and feel socially isolated, to lack a caregiver, to live in poverty, and to experience discrimination and mistreatment in healthcare settings. This presentation will help familiarize social workers about these and other issues facing LGBTQ+ older adults and will empower them to be effective and culturally informed advocates for this vulnerable population. Presented by: Jim Meadows, LMSW. Members: $25 / Non-Member $45. 1.50 General.
