Social workers in Guam and the Mariana Islands are facing significant challenges following the devastating impact of Typhoon Bavi, with many communities experiencing disruptions to electricity, clean water, and access to essential supplies. At the same time, social workers continue to support their communities while navigating these challenges themselves.

The NASW Foundation has activated its Social Work Disaster Assistance Fund to provide immediate direct assistance to social workers affected by the disaster. Funds will help support urgent needs, including utility and water restoration, water purification tablets, LifeStraws, and other essential supplies. The need is greater than the resources currently available, and the Foundation has launched a limited-time fundraising campaign to help ensure social workers in Guam can access emergency assistance when they need it most.
