LA26PDW22:  Improving Care for LGBTQ+ Older Adults

NASWLA Chapter 0 0

LA26PDW22:  Improving Care for LGBTQ+ Older Adults.  LGBTQ+ older adults face unique health and social disparities. In comparison with their straight and cisgender peers, they are more likely to live alone and feel socially isolated, to lack a caregiver, to live in poverty, and to experience discrimination and mistreatment in healthcare settings. This presentation will help familiarize social workers about these and other issues facing LGBTQ+ older adults, and will empower them to be effective and culturally-informed advocates for this vulnerable population. Presented by:  Jim Meadows, LMSW.  Member:  $25/Nonmember:  $50.   VIRTUAL.  1.50 General CEU. Pre-registration is required to be awarded CEU credit.
